Tracey Skirton and Mike Westgate are awarded coaching honours in recognition of their work.

The first 100 adult volunteers and 70 young volunteers have been recruited for the 2007 UK School Games but we still have a way to go! Over 250 volunteering roles have been identified for the event ranging from drivers and stewards to programme/ticket sellers and athlete village assistants.
One of the themes of the UK School Games is to create high quality opportunities for both young people and adults to volunteer at what is a high profile international event and also leave a lasting legacy of trained and experienced volunteers within the host city and beyond.
Adam Whitehead, former European and Commonwealth 100/200m Breaststroke Champion, has committed to attending the volunteer training in August to add his insight into what volunteers can bring to an event. Adam said, ‘volunteers in many ways form the atmosphere at major events and are more often than not the people who us as athletes and the general public turn too for information and advice on many areas. Whatever role you are playing at the UK School Games you are vital to the success of the event and the experience that the athletes have. I urge more people to get involved as volunteers and can guarantee that you will have a fantastic experience that you will never forget’.
Sandeep Manan is a student at a local School in Rugby and will be attending the Games as a volunteer in his role as Young Ambassador. Sandeep believes that the experience will not only benefit him but will also give him an insight into what it takes to host a major event, ‘I am really excited to be playing a role at the UK School Games and cannot wait to see elite athletes of my own age competing. I will be involved in a variety of areas as a Young Ambassador including working with the Athlete Mentors, manning the Media and VIP centres and will also be involved in the opening and closing ceremonies. It is a fantastic opportunity for me to develop upon my leadership skills as I will be required to communicate with a wide variety of people from athletes, VIP’s and the media’.
All volunteers will be required to attend the UK School Games from Thursday 23rd through to Sunday 26th August inclusive and will be required to commit to the following;
This is a fantastic opportunity for you to get involved in what is fast becoming a major event within the sporting calendar. If you would like to volunteer for the UKSG’s please send an email to uksgvolunteers@fstrk.com and register your interest.
