How did you get into your sport?
National Junior Games held by Wheelpower at Stoke Mandeville every year. I liked the look of table tennis and thought I’d try it. I didn’t know anything about the game but enjoyed it and thought I could do better once I learnt about it!
What are your best memories of the UK School Games?
The whole atmosphere of the Games was great I loved it all. It was really good meeting Olympic and Paralympic Gold Medal winners. Going up onto the podium to receive my individual medal and holding up the Winners Cup for my Region (SE) who were overall winners.
What would your advice be to this year’s competitors?
Play your best, never give up and have fun.
How many medals have you won and what do you remember most about winning them?
I’ve won lots of medals but the UK School Games Gold was quality. It’s funny because at the time you win it’s a different feeling from when you receive the medal. At the UK School Games it was really special.
What year are you in at school?
Going into 6th Form in September.
What are your sporting aspirations?
To represent my country and play at the Paralympics.
How many years have you been playing your sport? 3
½ years.
What is your best sporting performance?
When I was 13 I was 10-2 down in the final set against an 18 year old and I came back to win the Gold. It was amazing I beat him and I felt encouraged I could play against anyone after that.
