Gateshead Leisure Centre has a reputation for hosting major sporting and commercial events and will play host to the gymnastics competition for the 2010 North East England UK School Games.

Having undergone a major transformation as part of the £29 million Building an Active Future programme, Gateshead Leisure Centre reopens in April and offers fantastic new facilities. These include a 650sqm gym with state of the art equipment, 2 sports halls, 3 fitness studios, 3 swimming pools, poolside sauna and steam rooms, café and more.

Gateshead Leisure Centre is also included in the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Pre-Games Training Guides for a number of sports including basketball, boxing and fencing.
